Everything to be known About Lung Cancer

Lung cancer in the Philippines was the country’s leading cause of cancer-related fatalities in 2020. It was the second most often diagnosed kind of cancer.

It generally affects those over 45 and is uncommon in those younger than 45. Lung cancer affects both smokers and those who do not smoke. Those who smoke have a greater risk, but those who do not smoke have a reduced risk.

This is why lung cancer screening is essential. Early cancer identification may dramatically increase the likelihood of surviving lung cancer. And also the lesser chance of acquiring other health disorders and diseases linked to smoking. Some may be deadly, while others can cause permanent, irrevocable harm to your health.

Lung cancer has the highest mortality rate compared to all other types of cancer. Cigarette smoking is the most significant risk factor for lung cancer, accounting for over 90% of lung cancer occurrences.

In addition, COPD is a lung condition that makes breathing difficult. It causes permanent impairment and premature death. COPD begins by making it difficult to engage in physical activity. Approximately 85 to 90 percent of COPD is caused by cigarette smoking.

Almost every organ in the body is harmed by smoking, including the heart. Smoking may constrict and obstruct your arteries, resulting in decreased blood and oxygen flow to the heart. As a result of its effect on the arteries, smoking may induce a stroke. A stroke occurs when the blood flow to the brain is momentarily interrupted. In the absence of oxygen, brain cells begin to die. A stroke may result in death, paralysis, impaired speech, and decreased brain function.

Also, smoking may induce ectopic pregnancy in women, which occurs when a fertilized egg implants outside the uterus. The egg cannot survive, and if left untreated, the condition might be fatal for the mother. Additionally, smoking reduces fertility, making it more difficult to get pregnant.
