There has been considerable hype around the term Cannabidiol (CBD) in recent years along with all the health benefits of this all natural approach to many everyday ailments such as anxiety, inflammation, sleep disorders, and heart health, to mention a few.

There is a precursor to CBD and it’s known as cannabigerol (CBG). Research suggests that CBG and, more specifically, CBG products do, in fact, possess anti-inflammatory properties, and as a result, these products have enjoyed increasing success over the past few years. But the question remains: what are the key differences between CBD and CBG oil?

A comparison between CBD and CBG oil

These two products are often compared to each other, and the terms are used interchangeably, as they share many similarities. Both oils work on the endocannabinoid system. Another way to differentiate these two is by their effects and functions. CBD regulates and produces endocannabinoids. CBG, on the other hand, works with the regulators.

CBG helps to energize an individual, while CBD has more of a calming effect. However, when these two oils are taken together, the oils will balance each other out.

What are the health benefits of CBG

In a 2013 study, conducted on mice, it was found that CBG may help to reduce inflammation associated with inflammatory bowel disease. Several other studies were conducted, including a 2014 study, focusing on the effects that CBG may have on colon cancer in rats. Studies revealed that CBG may in fact help to inhibit or minimize the growth of cancer or tumors.

Furthermore, a 2008 study revealed that CBG products may help with glycoma by reducing intraocular pressure. Several other studies conducted into bacterial infections, appetite loss, and Huntington’s disease, all produced positive results regarding the positive effects that CBG had on patients.
